‘Veda’, a Sanskrit word means ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Vedic Mathematics’ is a rare collection of Techniques/Sutras to solve mathematical arithmetic’s in an easier and faster way. It consists of 16 Sutras (Formulae) and 13 sub-sutras (Sub Formulae) which can be used for problems involved in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, conics. These sutras were presented by a Hindu scholar and mathematician, Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja, during the early part of the 20th century.

As we know that using regular mathematical steps, solving problems sometimes are complex and time-consuming. But using Vedic Mathematics General Techniques and Specific Techniques applicable to specific sets of given data, numerical calculations can be done very fast.

Let us see what the advantages of Vedic Math’s are:

- Vedic Mathematics enriches knowledge and understanding of Mathematics, which shows clear links and continuity between different branches of Mathematics.
- Eradicates the fear of Math completely.
- Vedic Mathematics methods come as a boon for all competitive exams (such as Management, Banking, Engineering etc.) as mathematic problems can be solved with amazing accuracy and speed.
- Vedic Mathematics being a most natural way of working can be learned and mastered with ease and in a very short time.
- Vedic Mathematics system also provides a set of independent cross-checking methods.
- The element of choice and flexibility develops clarity of mind and intuition.
- It leads to improvement in mental ability, sharpness, creativity, and intelligence.
- Problems are reduced to one-line answers.
- Reduces the dependency on calculators.
- Students who learn Vedic Math excel at school.
- Increases your speed and accuracy and makes you become a Mental Calculator yourself.

**Abacus Math V/S Vedic Math**

Talking of differences, while the device called abacus which is an arrangement of beads, is used in Abacus math, the vedic math does not rely on any device and all calculations are done in mind. Abacus math helps in learning tables and multiplication of large numbers as well as division. On the other hand, Vedic math goes much beyond simple arithmetic problems and if mastered can help anyone to do complex geometrical and algebraic problems. Abacus math, if started at the age of 4 is especially helpful but with Vedic math, there is no such requirement and it can be learnt at any age.

**Vedic Mathematics in Present Times**

Vedic Mathematics is one of the most natural ways of working and can be learned with very little efforts and that also within a very short span. As mentioned, it is the element of flexibility that continues to add to the very essence of Vedic Mathematics. The calculation techniques provided are highly creative as well as effective. The core idea focused on Vedic Mathematics is that mathematical calculations can be carried out easily and of course mentally.

Even now, in the twenty-first century, Vedic Mathematics continues to be the centre of attention. Easy applications of the sutra are being set forth by theorists that can facilitate students in solving problems related to Calculus and Geometry. In modern times, many students are resorting to the use of Vedic Maths; especially the ones who sought to appear for competitive exams. The sutras help in solving a lot of complicated problems easily. Vedic mathematics offer students the extra edge that general mathematics might not be able to provide them with. Such is the versatility of Vedic Mathematics is that; even scientists from NASA have applied certain principles of Vedic Mathematics in the realm of artificial intelligence.

The Vedic Maths is a system which aims to realize the hidden potential of a student and develop his/her mental abilities whereby eliminating the fear of Mathematics completely through High-Speed Vedic Math. The focus is on creating Mathematical interest among students and improving their overall academic performance by strengthening their basic fundamentals of mathematics.
